As I’m sure you’ve all noticed we’re almost out of stock. We sold through batch #49 fast. In fact, it’s a new record. We’ve had batch #49 listed 22 days. For comparison we had batch #48 listed for 45 days when we first listed #49, and we had twice as much of it left. That’s more then twice as fast as an usual batch. It was a stand out batch, people were buying more at once to stay stocked up, and we had a lot of new customers too. Ordinarily we’d have another 3-4 weeks’ worth before we got to this point.
Normally, it wouldn’t matter that we’re running low because batch #50 should have been due in right around now. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way. The kratom industry, at least for small vendors, took a big hit last month. US Customs and the FDA pressured DHL to stop accepting any shipments coming to the US from anywhere in the Asia Pacific region with not just kratom, but with any powder or liquid to make absolutely sure that none of it is kratom. When you think of much trade our country does with the region that’s serious. There’s a lot of other products in powder or liquid form that businesses buy from there. Most small vendors and even many larger ones were relying on DHL to get kratom here.
Batch #50 was half way here when DHL shutdown shipments. It had to get sent all the way back and sent again through a different company. That was two weeks ago. So, it’s been moving. The shipping company that’s taking it agreed to send 1/3 of it faster than the rest but couldn’t rush the whole thing. So, we’ll be getting part of it in first then the rest after. Since it had to go all the way back, we did take the opportunity to add to our order. So, batch #50 will be larger than normal.
At least we have it coming, but we are going to be low on stock for a while. We do not anticipate being completely out. We would buy some from a domestic wholesaler before that should happen. We might have to change our order sizes in the future back to larger ones.
There is some good news to it all though. In the very near future we’re going to be doing a “From the Vault”, were we sell off all the kratom we held onto from past batches. It’s been almost exactly a year now since we’ve last done one. We used to do one every 3-4 months but have not had the need tis year. We have a lot this time!. It’s all good ones from batch #41 to #48. You can expect it in around a week, and we’ll send out an email when it’s up.
Also, of note is there’s still a lot of good ones left from batch #49. Red and white md and modern red come to mind. Batch #49 was the best batch we’ve gotten in some time. It’s on par with #33 and #14, and it took a year and a half to get another one as good as #33. Everything left is just as good as the ones that sold out first. Just because one strain is selling fast doesn’t mean it’s the best. It just means people are buying it because they see that everyone else is buying it. Just saying, there’s some hidden gems there
So, from the vault will be back soon. We’re waiting on the tracking number for the first part of #50 to update any day. Once we it does, we’ll have a clearer idea of when it will be in, and how much or whether to buy some domestic stock. There will be some down time before we do a full restock. Normally this would not have been a problem, but well, you know, it was a really good batch.
